Southend Barns Wedding Venue - Lauren and Peter

Southend Barns Wedding Venue

This was my first time at Southend Barns wedding venue, which is situated near Chichester West Sussex. This is an old dairy that has been converted in the most beautiful venue and was the perfect setting for Lauren and Peter to celebrate their marriage.

The girls were getting ready in the old dairy that is now the bridal suite and it really is a smashing space to start the day.  All the details have been thought through with a really relaxing colour scheme. Lauren and Peter met at university near the barn where they both studied music, and yes folks what I am about to say is very romantic. They wanted to marry where they first met, how absolutely lovely is that! Peter is a member of the Salvation Army so the marriage took place at the Salvation Army Halls in Bognor Regis.

So after much hilarity with the gals we zipped off to Bognor to meet the boys.  Yep you’ve guessed it Peter is part of the Queen’s Guard (apologies Peter if I haven’t got it 100% correct) but he has served in Afghanistan and plays at many of the major events so very amazing in my book :)

The wedding service was lovely in that all who were involved have known Peter since he was born so to be a part of his marriage to Lauren was very special indeed.  I am a silly old thing as yet again there was a tear or two from me to be able to capture such lovely moments of a lovely couple who are making the next step to forge a life together.

So after some shots (in the blistering sun) we headed back to Southend Barns wedding venue to start the celebrations. Everyone was such fun and we continued the silliness with Lauren’s parents (and Lauren’s Dad is a very talented musician too) and Peter’s Parents. In actual fact everyone was so lovely we began to feel like one of the guests!!! Lauren and Peter made sure we had a smashing meal even checking that we were served each course.  Now how lovely is that to take the time to check on us during their own wedding breakfast.

We sneaked off for some Bride and Groom portraiture in the evening, with the usual mixture of silliness and romance. I always find the silliness helps the romance to develop in front of the camera.  Well a wedding wouldn’t be a wedding with me if there weren’t prolific amounts of larking about ;)

I hope you enjoy the selection of images.  If you want to see the whole wedding then head over to my vimeo page where you can find it.

Have a great weekend folks,

Claire :)

Good Evening Folks,

A Wakehurst Place pre wedding photography shoot in West Sussex is being featured this evening and let me introduce you to the lovely Laura and Mark. We had lots of fun on the day and it was good to also discuss and iron out some of the finer points prior to the big day and what we were going to do photographically at this beautiful venue. As usual the planning of their day was absolutely tip top headed by Katie and her brilliant team.

I have photographed at Wakehurst a number of times before and there is so much here I am not sure that I would ever be at a loss of somewhere new to explore. On our travels we have found some new little nooks to use on the big day, as usual it will now be down to the great British weather, so be kind to us....please :) To be honest what ever happens weather wise on the day it will not matter as the mansion has other places I also want to explore too!

On to today's images first up Laura looking just beautiful at the gate to the formal gardens; she has a grace and poise that really shines through in this image. I always like a bit of silly piggy back fun; it is not something that will happen on the day itself but is a great laugh on the pre wedding shoot. I loved this sequence of images , so sensitive and loving; the light was beautiful and was enhanced by the dappled light in the background to give a texture and depth to the image. Just look at the vibrancy of the skies, the richness of the trees and foliage, I do love a stroll in an English country garden and Laura's dress fits in wonderfully here. Ahh last but certainly not least, I love this image of Mark; when I took it on the day it took my breath away; both Laura and I think he looks very majestic and commanding; oh happy days cannot wait for the big day now :)

Have a great week folks; I am still in the midst of cherry fest. For those of you that don't know every year we go and pick our cherry tree at Rent a Cherry in Northiam; cherry fest then commences and I love it!!!

Claire :)

Master Photography Awards 2012

Good Morning Folks,

I had some smashing news when I got home from yesterday's wedding; I have received four merits in the Master Photography Awards 2012 and I am again in the finals. It is all very exciting and the category winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 14th October in Newcastle.

Members from all over the world enter these awards and non-members are eligible to enter the open categories, so to be amongst the finalists is indeed an achievement in itself.

That's all for today folks, have a happy weekend and enjoy the sun; hooray, the sun!

Grace: Baby Photographers East Grinstead West Sussex

Good Afternoon,

I had a great session photographing beautiful Grace, she is such a yummy little girly all I wanted to do was give her a big cuddle! I first met Grace when she was in her Mummy's tummy and again when she was a month old. She is now 6 months old and such a bonny little girl; this session had to be split into two because she had enough and the mood we needed for the shots she was not prepared to do. She is a girly who knows her own mind so it was back today for part two with Daddy who makes the most wonderful assistant. He never fails to bring a lump to my throat when he talks to his baby girl; I just know I am going to blub during the edit! I am also very excited as she is going to be part of my secret project.

I have posted two images of Grace today, one very solemn moment and another showing her pink frilly dress and gorgeous feet to perfection.

Enjoy your weekend everyone and if you want to pop along and say hello I will be at the Alexander House Wedding Fayre this Sunday 29th. I don't know if you have gathered but I do like a good chat!!

Yas - West Sussex Children's Photography East Grinstead

Good Evening Folks,

I recently had a lovely session photographing the beautiful Yas. We started the session with high key as Yas needed some headshots then it was what I like doing best; creating a mood. I have photographed Yas a number of times now and she is just adorable, she has the sweetest disposition and to work with her is always a pleasure. She has also participated in my secret project that took us to a lovely location too.

I have chosen three images all from the 'moody' session; one in colour and two in varying black and whites. These images have had very little post production and all the work was done in the studio and camera, so what you see here is just simple, pure imagery. I am going to get some printed on a new paper that was delivered today that has a very warm tone to it. I produced the .icm profile this morning so I am all ready to go.

I am certainly feeling the cold snap that we are having and I keep telling myself it is good for the garden; not sure my chicken agrees with me though!
