About Me

tunbridge wells photographersWest Sussex photographer Claire Hill ABIPP LMPA DipPP ASWPP specialising in wedding and portraits is an Accredited Master Photographer living and working in East Grinstead, West Sussex. I am smack bang in the middle of several counties and about 20 minutes from Tunbridge Wells, 40 minutes from Brighton and a stone’s throw (well a bit more!) from London.

I specialise in all things wedding and portrait along with being the official photographer for Emma Tindley Couture, who is The Wedding Industry Awards Designer of the Year 2014 and the You and Your Wedding Designer Retailer of the Year 2015. I also undertake some commercial work too as they say variety is the spice of life!

So here’s a little bit more about me; I grew up in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and had a career in The City, which is where I met my Husband. Photography has always featured in my life and then I took the plunge and made the decision to pursue photography as a career and hey presto Woodland Hill Photography was born. It has been quite a journey with wonderful and maddening moments; lots of twiddling of hair into the most unusual knots that just cannot be brushed out. I am pleased to say that I still have said hair, which is a miracle in itself but I have also acquired a few qualifications too. I am a qualified Associate member of the British Institute of Professional Photography, and I am the only one to have gained my Associateship in weddings with the BIPP in West Sussex. I am a qualified member of the Master Photographers Association and I am entitled to use my letters and the title of Accredited Master Photographer. I also have my Associateship with the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers too and I am a Craftsman of the Guild of Photographers also in weddings. Currently there are only six photographers who have achieved their Associateship in the West Sussex area with the SWPP. Last but not least, I am also a member of Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). You’ve probably guessed it that qualifications are important to me and my City career has definitely influenced this and the importance of training, training and more training!

I have a mentor and with his superb guidance I have had the most wonderful journey so far but photography is a funny old thing; I don’t think there will ever be a time when one can say “now I have done it all”. Part of the fun is making new discoveries photographically and my wonderful clients are the ones that help me to keep my photography fun, fresh and vibrant. I think that everyone is beautiful and I just love to see that beauty unfold behind the lens; beauty is more than skin deep and to see real beauty is just magical; now that’s job satisfaction.

I was also chuffed to bits to have received a number of awards and if you want to be bored to tears click here to see what they are. I was ranked 26th in the International Loupe Awards 2011 for my entry in the Abstract/Illustrative category.

I love a good chat, so if you would like to talk further, give me a call! I hope you enjoy browsing the website and be sure to click here to pop into the moving albums page to see some slideshows and if you click on my blog you can catch up with my latest ramblings! Clicking here will enable you to see some of the nice things that my clients have said about me!

I very much look forward to hearing from you; oh and as it seems de rigueur for photographers to say what they all love; beach huts, dewy grass, chocolate and shoes seem to be mentioned a lot, well here’s my contribution. You can’t beat watching and photographing a good sunrise and sunset oh and the seasons, every one has its own beauty. The minx in me wanted to say something a bit different and if you want to know I will tell you 😉

Claire 🙂
