Graveteye Manor Luxury Intimate wedding venue in Sussex - Jasmine and Christian

Good Afternoon Folks,

I am a bit closer to home this week at Gravetye Manor and I am very much looking forward to photographing at this luxury intimate wedding venue in Sussex.

Jasmine first contacted me after she was chatting with our very own award winning designer Emma Tindley as she had been badly let down by her previous photographer. She came along to have a chat with me; I am not usually so vocal but I was shocked when she told me that she had paid this photographer a substantial booking fee with the firm agreement that her wedding date could be changed. Despite Jasmine contacting this person on several occasions with the new date, they did not get back to her at all; eventually when Jasmine persisted the photographer e-mailed back saying they were no longer a photographer!!! This photographer had not supplied her with any receipts for her money, the website was a blogspot (so completely free) website with not contact address or telephone number, just an e-mail address. When Jasmine was looking for her photographer originally she researched one of the biggest bridal blogs and because they had this person on their recommended list along with two or three articles that featured the photographer, she felt confident this person was professional! I hate to hark on but lots of brides use these blogs as a valuable resource and I think Jasmine has been badly let down. So just a few last things; make sure your photographer is professionally qualified with one of the organisations, has a proper website with an address and telephone number(s) and always insist on a receipt or paid with thanks invoice for money that you pay to them. If a photographer talks about passion without the back up of qualifications then you can be pretty much rest assured they don't have any!

So onto happier things because I am so pleased to be photographing their amazing wedding and the pre-wedding shoot was to explore a very distinctive style they had in mind; when we chatted at our initial meeting with Christian I knew this was going to be great. I think you can probably see the style we are aiming for on the big day from a small selection of the images you see here and it suits Gravetye perfectly. They are having a very intimate wedding, which is Gravetye's speciality; we are so lucky to have this gem so close to home and I cannot wait to be there with them on their wedding day.

For Jasmine and Christian it is all about the excitement now and really looking forward to a wonderful day that will be the start of the rest of their lives together.

See you soon you two,

Claire :)

Weddings at The Selsdon Park Hotel Surrey - Anne and Chris

Good Morning Folks,

I am loving this festive weather and this really makes me look forward to a Christmas wedding at the Selsdon Park Hotel wedding venue in Surrey. Anne and Chris have planned a warm and cosy festive wedding here and it was good to meet up and make some plans for the big day.

We did have a meander through the grounds but on the day it will be dark so we have been chatting about some lovely night shots we can take. Selsdon Park is such a versatile venue and it is really set up for weddings that span all seasons.

It was also a pleasure to meet Sam and Molly who came along to have a few pictures with 'Mum and Dad', they are sooooooo cute and very well behaved. I think Anne and Chris had to make sure they didn't end up with me as I would happily have taken them home…ooooooh they are bundles of gorgeousness!

I love Christmas and to be photographing a Christmas wedding is a joy so Anne and Chris I am looking forward to seeing you very soon.

Now folks have you put your Christmas decorations up yet? I have and thoroughly enjoyed it; I recently had a couple of weeks off work and loved every minute. It was so good to recharge my batteries and spend some time with my Husband, which is hard during the summer months as 6/7 day working weeks are really not uncommon. Anyway I am back and enjoying writing my blog, which I hope finds you all well.

Enjoy the frost….brrrrrrrr!

Wedding photography in Northamptonshire - Alexandra and Merrik

Good Afternoon Folks,

Another pre-wedding photography shoot today and say hello to our Niece Alexandra who is getting married to Merrik in Northamptonshire. This year has been quite the year for special weddings and it will be a very emotional day for me, not only to see Alexandra getting married but having the great honour of photographing their story. This is also very special because Alexandra was a bridesmaid at our wedding and here she is getting married herself; cue tears…again! There was lots of excitement last year when they announced their engagement and it was extra special as we were all together having some family holiday fun when they arrived with the good news. There was a little hiccup involving the engagement ring and some homemade pizza dough but the crisis was averted when Edward spotted it. The mystery as to how it managed to end up in said dough still remains because Alexandra was not anywhere near it at the time! Merrik's face was a picture though :)

They are getting married in the village church where Alexandra grew up and the reception will be in a marquee just up the road; this is very much a country wedding with lots of local suppliers involved, which is just lovely.

I photographed their pre-wedding photography shoot some time ago and as you can see for yourselves what a beautiful place it is to have a wedding; I just hope the weather is not rainy but not too hot either.

So enjoy the images and have a great weekend folks.

Seal Church Sevenoaks and Westerham Golf Club for Weddings in Kent - Ann and Brian

Good Afternoon Folks,

Wow how are we all coping with the heat? I think I am, but I find myself mentioning blistering heat frequently and I am beginning to think I was destined for a life on the stage with my very dramatic statements!!

Anyway let's get on to today's blog post and say hello to Ann and Brian who are getting married at Seal Church and having their reception at Westerham Golf Club. This is going to be a lovely day because Brian is the Uncle of Patrick who's wedding I photographed in 2012. It is going to be great to catch up with Patrick and Emma along with Brian's sister Nicky and his Niece to really enjoy celebrating such a special day.

We met up at the church to have a look around and it is really pretty both inside and out so whatever the weather; dare I say those words "blisteringly hot" or not there are plenty of lovely spots for their photography.

We then headed over to the golf club; alas it was not possible to venture anywhere near the course but we found lots of nice nooks for photographs and again this venue has so much to offer so it's happy days all round for me :)

All sorts of plans have been put in place for the big day, and I know that both Ann and Brian are really excited, as am I to be asked to be their photographer, so thank you for choosing me.

I have managed some nice days out in July, which has been smashing and we have even popped over to the Isle of Wight to see our friends for a couple of days. I always laugh at myself, because as soon as I get on the ferry I am convinced I am going abroad and saying ahhh you wouldn't get this in England as I look at the Spinnaker tower!!! Honestly what am I like ;)

Have a great weekend folks and I am hoping to get some wedding blogs up soon.

Good Afternoon Folks,

This week's pre wedding photography shoot sees us at Wiston House with the lovely Holly and Dorian. This is another very special wedding for me as this is the daughter of two very good pals of mine Lisa and Phill. This is turning out to be quite the year for being honoured I can tell you!

I haven't ever photographed at Wiston House before so I was very excited to get the chance to photograph a wedding there and wow this venue did not disappoint. We all popped along one open evening last summer after Holly and Dorian had booked their day and it was great to have a wander to take in all the elements and pick out some exciting spots. Lisa and Phill have photographed there on numerous occasions so it was good to wander and chat with them.

I loved the pre-wedding shoot because it was a good chance to get really cracking and work out what would work for them as a couple with the theme of their wedding, and we have definitely picked some brilliant spots for drama and others for good old fashioned silly fun. Those of you that know me well will know that I do love being minxish, so all being well weather wise it should all come together!

The dress has again been designed by no other than the magnificent one herself, the one and only Emma Tindley. I was also extremely privileged to be there right at the very beginning and I am humbled again to see this dress come to life; thank you Holly for letting me be a part of something so special…cue tears!

I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did taking them, and don't forget to tune back in for the shenanigans of the day. Oh Katie and Tim had some brilliant shenanigans/frolics; I laughed to much my sides hurt so keep a look out for their wedding blog folks. N.B Holly and Dorian I do love frolicking so watch out ;)

Have a great evening and enjoy the warmth of this amazing summer,

Claire :)

Ardingly Wedding Photography in West Sussex - Katie and Tim

Good Afternoon Folks,

Say hello to Katie and Tim; they are two very special people and I am honoured to be photographing their wedding. I am always honoured but Katie is a very good pal of mine so you can imagine what an emotional day this is going to be! To top it all the wonderfully and fantastic designer that can only be Emma Tindley has designed Katie's dress. This is also something very special as I have been to most of the fittings and I have loved seeing Katie's dress come to life from the very first time she visited Emma's boutique to choose her dress.

I am very excited about the wedding and as soon as I saw the venue and theme I was immediately taken to one of my favourite books; I am not going to spill the beans now but it was also a brilliant TV series too, and I cannot wait to see it come to life :)

We popped out one evening for the pre-wedding photography shoot and had a meander around Ardingly. The evening light was sublime and just take a look at those azure blue skies. When Katie and I get together, we can be quite juvenile so bridesmaids watch out what we have in store for you. I love having a bit of minxish fun and you can bet this wedding is going to be all things minxish... poor Tim!

Ummm let's get on to Tim who I think was a little afraid what might be in store for him. We were naughty telling him about the naked photography and I think he believed it for a bit; well didn't believe it then when we looked serious and didn't budge he thought that's what might be in store for him. Don't worry Tim, it won't hurt a bit ;)

There will be some amazing classic cars at the wedding too as this is Tim's pedigree and Katie is car mad; I have already been introduced to one sexy little lady, a Spitfire mark 2. Go on girl give us a roar on the day; she sounds absolutely fabulous.

So that's all I am going to divulge for now and you will have to tune back in to catch up with all the shenanigans from the big day. In the meantime here area few images from the shoot. Don't worry Tim there are loads more for you to see on your slideshow, but it was hard to choose a few for this blog. I love laughter and there is sure to be loads on the day along with prolific crying from me!

Buxted Park Hotel Wedding Venue - Wenjing and Julian

Good Morning Folks,

Another pre-wedding photography shoot and today we are at Buxted Park Hotel nr Uckfield in East Sussex.

I do love a bit of Buxted Park; it is always a joy to photograph there and anyone who walks through their door is always met with such a friendly welcome, so it's no surprise to see why it is such a popular wedding venue.

Wenjing and Julian have been arranging their wedding from abroad as they live and work in the Netherlands. I do take my hat off to them as there is so much to do and adding into the mix with travelling to a fro it cannot be easy, but they have done a brilliant job and it was great fun to catch up with them at the shoot. As you can see from the weather the rain was lurking in the background but we managed the whole shoot without rushing and not a drop appeared until I was in the car making my way back home!

I am really looking forward to their day as the theme of their wedding will be a celebration of both home countries and their life now. As we wandered around the hotel it was great to chat about their plans for this theme.

So I leave you today with a selection of images from the shoot; there is one of Wenjing next to the blossom, this time of year is so spectacular with the perfusion of colour that is a feast for the eyes; but you cannot beat white against a backdrop of green to really get in the mood for a lovely wedding.

Have a fab weekend folks; it's a busy one for me with some rain dodging I feel!

Pre-Wedding Shoot Photography at Leeds Church and Aylesford Priory - Natalie and Steve

Good Morning Folks,

Some pre-wedding photography for you all today and say hello to Natalie and Steve who are getting married at Leeds Church and their gorgeous wedding venue is Aylesford Priory. I love the theme they have chosen for their wedding and this really does fit beautifully with the church and venue. For those of you that may be a little confused the Leeds I am talking about is near Maidstone adjacent to Leeds Castle, not the Leeds 'up north'!

We started off at the church and as you all probably know I do love a good door and yup this church has a brilliant door that suits Steve perfectly. The grounds are extensive and it suits the timings on the day to spend a little bit of time here with just Natalie and Steve after they are married. Aylesford Priory is a working monastery and a really tranquil place to be. I am going to be truly spoiled as there are so many lovely spots; I just hope the weather allows us to have a wander, so whoever is in charge of the weather remote, be nice to us…please :)

I had the great honour of photographing Natalie's Sister's wedding a couple of years ago so it will be really nice to see everyone again for another celebration and another honour of capturing Natalie and Steve's wedding.

Have a great day folks; it’s all very busy behind the scenes here at WHP headquarters so I must now say adieu and get back to work.

Fulham Palace Wedding Venue - Claire and Johnny

Good Afternoon Folks,

I hope this finds you well and ready to read about the pre wedding photography shoot at Fulham Palace of Claire and Johnny.

When I first met Claire we had such a giggle and wandering around the gorgeous grounds of Fulham Palace with them both was no different. We had such fun as we made all sorts of plans for their big day. This venue is set in the heart of London adjacent to the River Thames but it feels a world away from the hub bub of the outside world, this really is a tranquil paradise.

Firstly there is the most gorgeous courtyard that takes me back to something a little Elizabethan for some reason (I don't think it is; note to self, research a bit of history) then a world of gorgeousness opens up along with a lovely cottage garden. I really do think we could be on a three week wedding photography fest here!! We spotted a very nice church just outside the grounds and I was all up for popping along to have a look; now Johnny is the font of all knowledge and informed us that this was the church that was used in the filming of The Omen; not wanting to have dodgy lines across my imagery I made a hasty retreat…oooooh scary!! I like wedding stories but not sure that would fit somehow and I would be petrified.

I am in a very privileged position to know the dress Claire will be wearing as it is another magnificent creation from our very own Emma Tindley, designer extraordinaire. There were frequent "I know what Claire's wearing" chants in a sing songy voice to Johnny. Johnny the wait and the surprise will be all the sweeter when you see your gorgeous bride for the first time; she will take your breath away. Claire seeing Johnny waiting for you at the end of the aisle will melt your heart. You two are gorgeous, wonderful and everything in between and I cannot wait to photograph your day :)

Pre Wedding Photography shoot at The Spa Hotel Wedding Venue Tunbridge Wells - Natalie and Darren

Good Morning Folks,

Yes it's me again and as promised I am bringing you the pre-wedding photography shoot of the very lovely Natalie and Darren. We had a great time wandering around the grounds of The Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells. I love this venue, it really is a smashing place to have your wedding whatever the time of year.

I first met Natalie and Darren at the Spa's wedding fayre and we were giggling away so I was over the moon when they chose me as their photographer for their big day. I think finding the people who are going to make your day come alive is so difficult; not just for the mahoosive amounts that seem to have come into the industry over the last few years, but to find the right personalities that will make your day super special is daunting. Whenever I get chosen I always feel chuffed to bits and honoured to be a part of a truly special day.

I like to get to know my lovely couples before their wedding and communication is the key. Natalie, Darren and I have been communicating a fair bit so when I met them for their shoot it was like I had known them forever, It is very scary to be placed in front of the camera so being familiar and comfortable really helps. The pre-wedding shoot is something I really advocate; not only does it help to banish those photography nerves but walking around the venue and visualising it for the wedding day really helps to make the day real and exciting, and you never know what plans will be made whilst we wander, chat and laugh :)

As you can see the day was gorgeous, and I do love natural looking shots and still always observing the light and making the most of it; check out the shades gang, tres chic! You cant beat a good old kiss, and on any wedding day there will be loads of kissing so what better way to start that at the pre wedding shoot ;) We had plans for Darren but alas it won't happen because of the set up on the day, so there will be new plans afoot but crikey our Darren looks fab in front of a door. Another good thing about the shoot is to work out how people are in front of the camera, gorgeous Natalie is a smiler and wow she looks amazing.

Needless to day I cannot wait to be a part of your day and yup as usual there will be tears; there always is!

Claire :)
