Sometimes there isn’t and you simply look at the people you love and realise that who they are right now is worth remembering. The expressions you recognise instantly, the relationships between them or the little things that will change without anyone noticing they have.
That’s what portrait photography means to me. Not waiting for the perfect milestone, but making something of the people and relationships that matter to you now.

For some families, portraits become part of the story rather than something they do once. I’ve photographed this family for 13 years, from their wedding through the arrival of their children and all the changes since.
